4 month Stats

Hello Faithful Blog readers!

We got to go to the doctor on this dreary rainy morning for Abs (picked this nickname up from my niece Megan who called Abbey that one time! I thought it was cute!!) 4 month check up!

She is 24 1/2 inches long and in the 50th percentile for height, and 12 lbs and 1/2 oz which puts her in the 25th percentile for weight, her head was in the 50th percentile too but I can't remember how big it was! She got great remarks from the doctor. He said her head control was great and asked if she was reaching for things and being vocal- all of which she is doing! She has not rolled over yet but is very close- she kind of rolls over if she is on the bed. She scoots like a madwoman in her crib, especially if her pacifier has fallen out and she is trying to get it back in her mouth! Its pretty cute to watch on the monitor.

She also got 3 shots in the legs, and one oral vaccine. She did SO well, she cried for about 30 seconds then I picked her up and got her dressed and by the time we were paying she was smiling! She is sleeping right now, I think I may let her sleep a little longer than normal since she had a rough morning! I am currently working on my Christmas cards and letter, yes you will be getting a letter and a card a little late this year! Oops!! Better late than never right?

Well if I don't post again before the New Year everyone have a safe and fun time when you are celebrating. We have reservations at Ruth's Chris NYE (also known as Shane's birthday) then back to our house for a wild crazy night with the Zimmerman/Woods/Gebhart clan! Adios

So Abbey had her first accident this weekend, she handled it better than Mom did! The cat jumped in Shanes lap (while he was holding Abbey) and so then Zeke went crazy and had to get the kitty and jumped in Shane's lap on Abbey. She luckily closed her eyes and he only scratched the top and bottom but it looks pretty bad! Poor Zeke thought that he was in big trouble but we have just been getting on to him when he startes going after the cats now. Abbey is just fine and not even phased by the scratch now! Oh also a pic of my new specs! I love them!

Make a Wish

So I am sure many of you know that the Make a Wish requestathon is going on here on a local radio station. Well it normally gets to me and makes me shed a few tears but this year it is totally different. This year it really hits home, Shane and I have been so lucky to have been blessed with a happy healthy little girl. Although it breaks my heart to hear the stories of these little kids it also makes me stand back and just be in awe of these parents of these special little kids. Their strength and dedication amazes me. I realize now that there really is nothing a mother would not do for her child. Listening to these stories I feel guilty for the times when I get frustrated when Abbey gets fussy or gets up in the middle of the night and I wish I could just sleep- I know those feelings are natural but now listening to these stories I am thankful for those moments. I realize there will always be times of frustration with children but in the grand scheme of things we are very lucky. It also warms my heart to hear so many of these families talk about their faith in God and the strength that he gives them, I can only imagine that God is the only way to get through situations like the ones I hear on the radio.

So my challenge to anyone who reads this blog is to donate to the Make a Wish requestathon (317-228-1099 or even if it is just $5 any amount could help a child's wish come true. I especially challenge you if you have a healthy happy child at home to help make a child in need a little happier. Shane and I do the wish maker club where we donate $10 a month making our total donation $120, it comes right out of our bank account and we never even miss it! This an organization I have supported for over 5 years now and it has a special place in my heart. Thanks for taking the time to read this post! Also my thoughts and prayers go out to the Omaha families who were involved in the tragic shooting, what a crazy world we live in today.

I did not mean for this to be a sad and gloomy post! I am very thankful for all of the blessings we have in life and wanted to try to give to families who are in need. Stay tuned this weekend I will post pictures from Shane's company Christmas party!

Transition Time

So last night was the first night Abbey slept in her crib all night! She did so well, she only woke up one time at 2:30 to eat and she went right back to sleep! Such a big girl now! Her schedule was a little off this weekend with the holiday and going to visit family and staying all night in a strange place and her eating schedlue was off an hour last night so we had to feed her the last bottle at 8 instead of around 9 so it is totally understandable that she was up at 2:30- things were just not normal! We are using the video monitor we got as a baby shower gift from my Mom and Grandma Rose- it is awesome, however I could just stay up and watch her sleep in her crib she looks so darn cute! Especially when she stirs a little and then goes back to sleep, or when she is awake and just laying there looking around. Just precious! She seems to do well with going down drowsy and soothing her self to sleep, she does not cry nearly as much as she used to when we would lay her down for the night. It was also nice because Shane and I got our reading/watching TV time back when we go to bed- not to mention talking and other things will be easier! :)

I am wondering if Abbey is not getting ready to start teething, she is getting fussy and wants to chew on her hands or Daddy's finger an awful lot, and yesterday the whole front of her shirt was drenched with drool (not spit up for once) and lots of people have said that it could be early signs of teething- so just when she starts sleeping through the night she is going to start teething! Fun times right?! So give me your advice on getting through teething! Keep posted for pics from this weekend!

Thankful Thoughts

Wow do I have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving! First and foremost I am so very thankful for my family. My step-dad likes to joke that I used to tell him that I was going to marry for money, well I got something much more valuable when I married Shane. I got the best man ever- well the best man for me that is! I know I have said this all before but Shane really is amazing in every aspect of everything he does, and well of course he puts up with me so that makes him close to an angel! He is an amazing father, he was worried about having patience but I don't really know why he is always very patient with Abbey. So I am very thankful that I have both Shane and Abbey in my life now. I am also very thankful that we are allowed to practice our faith openly and wherever we want, our church talks a lot about other nations who do not have this privledge and I could not imagine living a happy life without being able to go to church each week and openly talk about God and my beleifs whenever I wanted to. I am extremely happy for the house we live in and all the things in it that bring us joy, we have a lot of "toys" and nice things that I am grateful for. I am of course thankful for the relationship I have with all of my parents (in-laws included!!) there have been rough patches in the past but things are better than they have ever been. I am thankful for all of my family and glad I have such close relationships with so many of them. I am thankful that Shane and I have jobs that we enjoy. I am thankful for all of the wonderful friends I have made through out the years. I think I could go on forever about the things I am thankful for! Shane and I make it a habit each night to tell each other something that we are thankful for, large or small we try to do it every night. Since we have been married we have done this so we have discussed many things we are thankful for and we plan to continue this tradition with our children as we put them to bed. I hope all of you who read this have an amazing Thanksgiving and take the time to think about all of the things in your life you have to be thankful for!

Welcome Home Daddy!

Well Shane is back after being gone for a week, he was in Florida at his trade show. I was SO lucky and had Ginger (my step-mom) come to stay two nights and help out- she is great! I had my annual conference for work this week too so that meant a couple long days at the convention center, Ginger really made it easier- a big thanks to her- I hope my Dad did not miss her too much!

Of course the day that Shane gets home (Saturday) I start to get sick- sore throat, runny nose, coughing. All that fun stuff, and I can only have cough drops and tylenol because I am breastfeeding! Fun times for me!

Anyways as usual Shane has been a wonderul husband and about all I am doing is nursing and handing off, and of course playing around on the internet!! He even made dinner, White Chicken Chili- it is yummy, well what I can taste of it!! I am trying to drink lots of water and liquids and I am using hand sanitizer like it is going out of style, I know that my breastmilk is producing antibodies for Abbey and she will hopefully NOT get what I have but still I am taking the precautions I can.

Abbey got to use her Bumbo seat (properly supervised of course). I love this thing, she seemed to like it too! She also wore her first bow in her hair (or lack there of!) today and has had it on all day and has not even noticed, its too cute!!

She is so glad her Dad is back home!

Abbey and I on Halloween
She was eyeballing the candy...
She is so happy when she gets home from the sitter!
Happy Baby!
Look at those little lips!

This is a video of Abbey hanging out with her Aunt Beth, its nothing special just Abbey watching Beth move her hands around above Abbey's head. She is following things with her eyes now and was really facinated by Beth's "spirit" fingers! I will try to get the color and lighting right on future videos this was really just a trial!

Was it a fluke?

So Shane and I have a very busy weekend ahead of us- Saturday I am going out with my "in-laws" (Ladies only) to see a play and to Agio on Mass Avenue then on Sunday Shane and I have Colts tickets- they are on the 5 yard line 11 rows up- courtesy of my awesome co-worker Jason! With that being said I do not have enough milk stored up to give to Abbey while I will be gone this weekend so I wanted to introduce some formula to her early to see how she reacted- well of course the little piglet ate most of the bottle last night and seemed just fine all night and this morning and had no problem breastfeeding this morning. However she slept from 9:30-5:30!!! I got 7 straight hours of uninterrupted sleep last night, it was pretty nice! Of course the one night that we could get great sleep Shane slept terribly, I on the other hand was out cold as was Abbey. I don't know if it was the formula that stuck with her a little while longer or if she is just stretching out her schedule- whatever it was I LOVED it!!! I am looking forward to this weekend! Oh and my Dad and Ginger are going to be staying all night Saturday because they will be going to the Mellencamp show!

Happy Halloween

Well it is Abbey's first Halloween and we (Aunt Sherry and I) went shopping for some props and a costume! Then Aunt Beth and Aunt Kristy came over to see! Abbey is so cute!!
