Is winter over yet?

I don't know about you, but I have had my fill of snow and ice I am ready for spring! Well I am not ready for tornado season because I work myself into a fit when we have watches and warnings but I have to learn to control that I really don't want to pass my insane fear along to this child. The only fear I intend to pass along is the fear of snakes, for good reason they are evil!! I doubt that our children will ever be allowed to have any pets besides a dog or a fish, after Otis and Jezebel go on their merry way we are done with cats but I think we will always have a dog, and well fish are pretty easy. No reptiles, exotic animals, or rodents. I am sure I will fight Shane on this, but I will win. Anyone willing to place bets?

This weekend was great, we went to IL for Shane's grandma's 100th birthday celebration! It really was a good time. I also felt really good the whole time!

I have not been feeling too bad, however a few new things are happening. My gag reflex is ridiculous, I can't burp so instead I gag- I would much rather be able to burp. I also have noticed that smells are so strong and I always smell the ones that are bad, they really make me sick! I have also noticed that I like to have a lot of personal space and it keeps getting invaded and I do not get happy about that. I like to be able to breathe and not be so close to someone that when they speak I can smell their breath because it is usually enough to set me over the edge, I also don't like to smell "people" everyone has their own scent but sometimes when people get too close I smell too much of them!! My stomach is sore a lot, especially at night when I go to turn over (which I seem to be doing a lot of) it feels like I have done 500 sit ups, and we all know that is not the case. I read that it is my stomach muscles preparing to grow, so maybe that means I am going to start showing more! I am still one pound under what I started at so things are looking good in that area. I think I show a little bit depending on the outfit I wear- if you did not know I was pregnant you still would not think so by looking at me. I feel like I show more after I eat lunch and right before I go to bed. I think I need to go shopping for some pants, I can still wear one pair of pre-pregnancy dress pants and my jeans but the ones with the elastic waist bands sure are more comfortable after eating!!

Shane and I decided that our Lenten promise would be do try to volunteer more. I have signed up with the Crisis Pregnancy Center to receive quarterly emails containing people who need prayers. We are also planning on helping out Saturdays at The Lord's Pantry, they give food to anyone who needs it on Saturday mornings. I did volunteer work off and on in college and it really makes a difference in your life, plus we all should be giving at least something back to our community to try and make it a better place.

Great Valentine's Day

What a relaxing day, I had a snow day on Tuesday and Wednesday so I really got to do a whole bunch of nothing! Tuesday I cleaned a little but mostly watched TV and napped! Wednesday I prepared a great dinner for Shane and I:
Shrimp Cocktail
Ribeye
King Crab legs
Portabellos and onions
Baked Potatoes
Homemade Cheesecake and Chocolate Dipped Strawberries
Needless to say we were stuffed last night! Shane got a PlayStation 2 and games and accessories. I also made him a little photo album for his desk at work. I got 2 massages, I am hoping I am able to get a hot stone massage for one of them!!

Last weekend we had to cancel our reservations so we have rescheduled for this Saturday. I was sick on Saturday and did not want to waste a wonderful dinner and not be able to eat and enjoy the evening. So I will update on that later!

I think we are going to shop around for furniture for the nursery, Babies R Us was pretty expensive- very nice stuff though. I really want a 4 in 1 crib so it needs to be pretty good quality to withstand the transitions! Maybe I can talk Shane into getting paint this weekend too!!

I have still been really tired and nauseous at night, lots of headaches too. I can start taking my allergy medicine now that I am in the 2nd trimester so that will be nice! Darn animals!

We leave next Friday to go to IL to celebrate Shane's grandma's 100th birthday! It was fun last year even though I was sick, I can't make any promises that I won't be sick again this year but for different reasons! No hot tubbing again this year for me :(

Sick

Yuck- I do not think I will be drinking orange juice for a while. I got sick for the first time today and it was NOT fun. The worst part I had to stay at work because I have a lot to get done. Luckily I started feeling better, but once you get sick you never really feel 100% again that day, at least I don't.

I went to Babies R Us on my lunch hour to kill some time, wow do we have a lot of stuff to get! I think we will go register this weekend (also at Target, how could one resist) because the colors we (or should I say, I have chosen, Shane just nods even if he disagrees) chose are neutral. Light yellow, celery green, dark brown, and cream that can go either boy or girl. I was against themy stuff so I wanted to go with just a simple color scheme I found a bedding set that has a bear on it but it also has all of those colors and the bear is not too cheesy looking.

What we really should be doing is cleaning out closet and cleaning out the nursery's closet, but that does not seem nearly as much fun as registering!

We do have a busy weekend- Shane is taking me out for my birthday dinner (we celebrated with family last weekend) to Ruth's Chris. I will post a review next week! Then if we have time Marian's homecoming party and alumni get together is Saturday night. Hopefully Sunday can be lazy.

Wonderful!!

I got to meet my doctor today for the first time, she is awesome. I really really like her, she is young and really easy to talk to. I was so relieved! I did not want a doctor who made me feel uncomfortable! I just got a normal exam, she said everything looked great. She felt my pelvic bones and said they were perfect for delivery. I guess some women's tilt and it makes delivery harder, I am normal! She also said that my weight was really good, but that I should only look to gain about 10-15 lbs, so with that said I am starting a food journal and I HAVE to start walking on the treadmill. She told me that I should not have to adjust my calorie intake just be sure to eat healthy foods. Now I must make myself get off of the couch and do some physcial activitiy, its just so cold in the garage! I did find a few good programs on On Demand that I am going to try to do tonight, I will keep you updated! And I have Grey's Anatomy the first season to watch while I work out!

I only got to hear the heartbeat this time, it was a strong 164 which the doctor said sounded great! I got good marks all around!! I will get another ultrasound at 18-20 weeks (I will be 12 weeks Friday, so the appointment after the next one- I may be able to find out the sex then too!). We had the option for genetic testing that would let us know if the baby would be born with CF or spina bifida, we asked what we could do if we had positive results and there is nothing that can be done until the baby is born so we opted not to do the tests. The way I look at it things are in God's hands and I am doing everything I am supposed to be doing so I will leave my trust in Him. Just like I told Shane when he was starting to wonder if we could get pregnant at all, leave it up to God he will let us know when we are ready and what do you know- we are having a baby!

My next appointment is March 7th, I will post before then I am sure! I am so glad that I like my doctor and that I got good remarks at this appointment! Wish me luck with the exercise! :)

Next Appointment & Travels

My next appointment is February 7th! I think I just get some fun exams, and measured and weighed. Speaking of weight, I have not gained anything yet- I am fluctuating between minus one pound, plus one pound. However, my waist line is changing for sure! My pants are tight in places they weren't before, especially after lunch!

We are traveling to North Vernon this weekend for some birthday celebrations. My nephew and I share the same birthday, February 4th! We will be having dinner with my Mom's side on Saturday night then staying all night with my Dad and having lunch with that side on Sunday, then traveling back north for a celebration with the Zimmerman's and then the BIG celebration- THE SUPERBOWL! This is actually the first Superbowl I am watching where I actually understand the concept of football, amazing and sad I know! I have a feeling after this weekend my pants may be more than just a little tight!! GO COLTS!!!!!!
